Switchyard Park

1601 S. Rogers St

Bloomington, IN 47403

The festival will take place at Switchyard Park, located just south of downtown Bloomington.

The mainstage lawn will be the primary venue for performances, featuring a lineup of 12 local and regional up and coming bands and performing artists.

Inside the Pavilion, attendees can browse a curated arts market featuring works from local designers, grab a sip from Upland Brewery, and listen into performances from 9 varied acoustic acts performing on the indoor stage.

Also, a skate jam will take place from 4-6 at the skate park, sponsored by Rhett Skateboarding and WIUX.

Transportation

We strongly recommend attendees join us to neutralize our carbon footprint as much as possible with this festival, and utilize modes of transportation that reduce usage of fossil fuels. Additionally, parking is somewhat limited, so plan accordingly! See below for our recommended travel methods:

FOOT, BIKE, OR PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION

The venue is very accessible via bike or walking via the B-Line trail. Many bike racks are available for use at the facility. The walk from campus (Sample Gates) to the park is only 30 minutes, so this is a good option for those who are able. Alternatively, Bloomington Transit now offers 2 routes that run on Sundays that have stops at the park: 2 South and 7 South. IU students, faculty, and staff have free use of these routes and all other attendees can use the transit for only $1.

CARpool OR RIDESHARE

Bloomington is very transportation accessible via ride share apps such as Uber, Lyft, and more with drivers staffed throughout all days and hours of the week. Additionally, we encourage attendees to utilize remote parking at Bloomington High School South, at the lot across from administration and the lot across from the tennis courts — both of which are close to Walnut Street and a 10 minute walk from Switchyard Park.

RESTROOMS, FIRST AID, AND WATER

See above for locations of where to find restrooms, first aid stations, and the water tank, and see details:

Restrooms

Attendees should use portalets across the trail walking towards the skate park, if able.

Accessible restrooms can be found in adjacent building next to park splash pad.

WAter cups & refill station

We encourage attendees to bring their refillable water bottles, or “water packs” and utilize the water cart City of Bloomington is providing for the festival. Additionally, cups will be provided - no plastic water bottles!

First Aid

If any attendees need first aid treatment or attention themselves, or notice someone else does, alert a close-by volunteer and/or visit a first aid station as labeled on the map. IC-EMS will have EMTs and first-aid providers on-site and can offer attendees with care if needed.

Festival policies

We want to ensure everyone has a safe, enjoyable, and memorable time at Burning Couch Festival. Please be aware of the following festival rules, and understand that we reserve the right to deny any person access to festival grounds, if deemed necessary.

Small and clear bags only

All attendees are subject to a bag check at festival entrances by security to ensure experience is as safe for everyone as possible. Any items deemed not allowed are grounds for confiscation and possible removal from the premises. Under no circumstances are any items that could be perceivably used as weapons allowed on festival grounds.

No smoking, drugs or outside alcoholic beverages

As this festival is being held in a public space, smoking and open use of drugs or alcohol on park grounds is strictly prohibited. Alcoholic beverages can be purchased from Upland and consumed inside the Pavilion, and drinks are not allowed to leave from the indoor space. Festival personnel reserve the right to refuse service to or remove any attendees that appear to be under the influence and causing a disturbance.

No flash, no heckling, and be respectful

Attendees should be respectful of one another, and especially to performers on stage. Please, no flash photography (during evening sets) and no heckling the bands or artists. Do not attempt to get on stage, into backstage, or in spaces intended only for festival personnel.

Although some performances may encourage crowd participation, please keep interactions respectful, consensual, and appropriate. If someone falls down while in the crowd, help them up. If someone needs out of the crowd, give them a hand! Crowdsurfing is not allowed. Dancing is encouraged! This festival is for all ages, and any behavior deemed inappropriate can result in removal. Be aware of the other people around!

Additionally, have respect for the grounds and DO NOT LITTER. Do not destroy or vandalize any festival or parks property.

And lastly, as many are wondering:

No couches are actually being burned at festival grounds. (SORRY!)
